(DES110) Type Self Portrait

I was asked to create a self portrait using only letters.  To begin this task I went in search of examples of this style of portrait and found the images below.

I really like this style and below is my attempt at it.  I used photoshop to build layers of letters.  I used the whole alphabet and changed the size and shade of each letter to make my portrait more realistic.  To finish it I used only the letters in my name and made them bigger than the rest so to stand out.

I'm very proud of how my portrait looks.  Despite being rather time consuming I feel it was worth it and will definately experiment with this technique; maybe use a variety of fonts or play with colours.
